Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide (CO2). At atmospheric pressure its temperature is -78.5 °C, and as it warms it turns directly into gas without passing through a liquid phase (sublimation). This allows it to cool products without wetting them and without leaving any residue.
Applications
- Food: Cold chain transport of meat, poultry, seafood and ready meals; temperature control in mincing and dough processing; catering and in-flight services.
- Pharmaceuticals and healthcare: Transport of vaccines, biological samples and laboratory specimens.
- Industrial cleaning: Dry ice blasting to clean moulds, machinery and equipment without disassembly, water or chemicals.
- Assembly: Shrink fitting of parts by cooling them before assembly.
- Laboratory and R&D: Experiments and tests requiring low temperatures.
- Events and stage: Low-lying fog effects.
Dry Ice Types
Depending on the application, dry ice is generally used in pellet (e.g. 3 mm and 16 mm) and block forms. Please contact our sales team for the form and quantity that best suits your needs
